Pike's original novelty songs, (recorded on his Odd Tales and Wonders, Stories in Song album), played well in military hospitals and coffeehouses, but so did these original folk-style tunes and ballads, many of which stayed in his repertoire, even after his return to his rock and roll roots.

Reconstructed Coffeehouse Blues features "Sing a Song of Blues," "She's Gonna Be A Woman Some Day," and "Tommy Tew Run Run," were not part of his early coffeehouse repertoire, but all the rest were, in one form or another, audience favorites some 50 years ago.

Ask Travis to tell:

What inspired the album title, Reconstructed Coffeehouse Blues?

Why, instead of peforming his songs solo, as he picked and strummed his guitar the way he did back in the 60's, he recorded these more developed arrangements? Doesn't that make the album less authentic?

Why he thinks these 60's songs still attract 21st century listeners?

Who was Tommy Tew? What are the backstories to "Sing a Song of Blues," "Midnight Waltz" and "Don't You Care At All?"
